Committed to SustainabilityiR building under a Blue Moon

inRESONANCE, Inc. (iR) is a strategic productivity partner for schools and nonprofits. Our suite of intelligent, open, customizable FileMaker® Pro database solutions and related web applications brings control and flexibility to key operations—fundraising and constituent management, admissions and enrollment, and registrar functions—with the simplest user interface on the market.

We never forget the human side of technology. Good technology empowers people; it increases innovation, creativity, and productivity. Technology must be the means, not the end, to serving an organization’s vision in an appropriate and sustainable way. iR helps organizations reach that point.

Working for Good

The seeds of iR grew during decades of work by founder Kevin McAllister in the independent school world and the world of nonprofit volunteering in Peace Corps, Habitat For Humanity, and peace work. In the early ’90s, Kevin created database solutions to help schools increase productivity in comment writing and admissions. Over six years he acquired nearly 40 client schools in the New England region; served on state and regional IT boards; was contracted to consult with schools on IT; and spoke at conferences across the country. Seeing the need clearly at hand, Kevin left the school world in 1999 and founded iR with a colleague. inRESONANCE then expanded its client list through word of mouth, one organization at a time, and we are privileged to maintain a network of partners around the country.

The men and women of iR form a tapestry of experience and skills that complements our clients’ diversity and uniqueness. We are former IT Directors, Peace Corps volunteers, an author of books about independent schools, a Fulbright scholar who has worked in West Africa, a member of a team that designed a new school, a college chemistry professor, a co-founder of the nonprofit Virtual Explorers, and a development consultant and marketing executive of a major technology company. iR people have experience in peace delegations, Habitat projects, environmental efforts, hospice, food kitchens, farming and scouting as well as deep educational experience and work in corporate environments.

Supporting Independence

We believe in open, customizable solutions. It is rarely efficient for organizations to write their own software from scratch, but each should be able to adapt every tool to its unique mission. iR operates on the principle that each client should be free to see, understand, and control their own information. At every step we work with you to customize your solution, and to train you to continue on your own.

We design our solutions in FileMaker® Pro. We pioneered the concept of providing a standard, open FileMaker® solution to multiple organizations rather than approaching each new organization as a custom project. This popular, cross-platform, easily networkable software platform allows us to work with organizations of all types and sizes. Combining the flexibility and openness of FileMaker®  with Open Source web tools and SQL-based systems allows us—and, more importantly, you—to grow and adapt.

Our clients vary widely in mission and scope: museums and traditional boarding schools, single-sex schools, scholarship programs, large urban day schools, overseas exchange programs, international schools, charter schools, religious schools, summer camps, artist collectives, Montessori schools. In each case, we strive to adapt our solutions to match your needs and your definition of success. This is a serious challenge that we gladly accept—in fact, it lies at the core of our mission.

Committed to Sustainability

We are dedicated to your unique success. As the tempo of technological change grows, schools and nonprofits will increasingly struggle to find sound guidance and appropriate solutions. iR understands the challenges these organizations face; we provide practical solutions along with workflow strategies that promote productivity. Supporting your success means being there long-term with skill and experience when you need it.

We are committed to sustainability, the sharing of resources, and the artful use of technology. We believe in accessibility, simplicity, and the reasonable pursuit of unreasonable goals. We are determined to apply our expertise for the benefit of schools and nonprofits in the pursuit of their missions.
