You will need to bring your own computer with a copy of FileMaker® Pro 9.0 or higher with the latest updates installed on it to iRU. All instructors will be using FMP 10. Please note that FMP 10 has a very different user interface than any previous version of FMP. If your organization has not yet upgraded to FMP 10, that is fine. You will be able to participate in sessions. Your screens will look different than the instructors' screens do, however.

Please check the version of your software prior to your arrival. You can download the latest FileMaker Pro update from the FileMaker web site. You can also download a demo copy of FMP 10 to use during the conference. We cannot supply you with a copy of FileMaker Pro or updates. We begin the first morning assuming that everyone has FMP loaded on his or her computer.

Please note: FileMaker Pro 5.x, 6.x, 7.x, or 8.x cannot be used for iRU courses.

Below are the minimum computer requirements to ensure success. Please read the information below carefully. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. We look forward to seeing you here in Northampton!

You will need either a Macintosh or a PC laptop computer with:

  • Mac OS X 10.3.9 or higher or Windows 2000, Windows XP or higher (Windows 98 is NOT sufficient.)
  • at least 128MB of RAM
  • CD-ROM drive
  • power supply unit
  • a mouse (If you are bringing a laptop with a track pad that you have not used before, then you must bring a mouse. With a mouse, you will be able to focus on learning FileMaker Pro and not on how to use the track pad.)

The Delaney House has a wireless network so you may want to bring a wireless card if wireless is not built into your laptop (802.11).

If you are bringing a PC laptop from your school, make certain that the security settings have been turned off before leaving campus. If your computer is password protected and you do not know the password, it is possible that you will not be able to install the training files on your computer.

Additionally, if you are bringing a laptop with you that you have never used before make sure you are comfortable using whatever input device is available. We strongly suggest that you bring a mouse with you if you are bringing a laptop with a track pad that you have not used before. We cannot supply these for you, and experience has shown that you will have better success with a mouse. We cannot stress enough that the best way to ensure your time is useful is to be familiar and comfortable with the equipment you are bringing with you. You do not want to be struggling with new equipment while trying to increase your skill level in FileMaker Pro.

Please note, inRESONANCE is not responsible for hardware support at the conference nor do we have computers or other equipment to loan.
