There's a lot of good news on the home page of The Alexander Dawson School in Lafayette, Colorado, including the story of how the Dawson community raised more than 200% of its goal to help victims of the Haitian earthquake. Students of this K–12 school contributed $9000 in allowances, piles of pennies, and checks from family and friends, then joined forces with other members of the Denver and Boulder communities to assemble more than 30,000 meals for the Haitian Relief Project. You can see their YouTube video here.

Dawson has received a long list of accolades, including a nod in Business Week magazine as “the parents’ choice for the top private school in Colorado.” On the school web site, Headmaster Brian Johnson is quick to put that designation in context. He writes in From the Headmaster, “As Jim Mitchell has noted, Dawson wants to caution families that rankings of schools—while exceptional techniques for selling magazines—tend to do families and students a disservice. Schools are complex institutions and what matters most is the match between the interests, needs, and goals of a particular child and the mission, programs, resources and goals of a specific school.”

Dawson installed GENERATIONS, the inRESONANCE solution for fundraising and development, in February. We encourage you to learn more about The Alexander Dawson School by visiting http://www.dawsonschool.org.
